I have never been to Thailand. Can I still teach? Does your company hold seminars to prepare new teachers?
Yes, and we love to have you here! We do offer a 3-4 days of free orientation to prepare you to teach in Thai schools. We will discuss topics, such as, class management, curriculum, evaluation methods, school expectations, Thai culture, Buddhism, Thai food, etc. By the end of the training, you will be ready to teach Thai students and feel comfortable living in Thailand.
What are the benefits working in a Thai government school?
1. You are generally welcomed enthusiastically by the school and the entire community
2. You have the opportunity to make many work/social contacts
3. The students are generally more appreciative
4. You become a part of a team and community
5. You are able to learn much more about Thai culture
6. You will teach only basic conversational English
7. Very little weekend work
8. You get paid holidays
When do I have to be ready to come to Thailand if I want to work with MediaKids?
Mediakids (MK) works with Thai goverment schools and thus does the majority of its hiring to correspond with the Thai academic calendar. The first semester runs from mid-May until early October and the second runs from the beginning of November until mid/late-March. It is recommended that you be in the country at least one to two weeks prior to the start date to attend MK's training and orientation course. This course is shorter than a week and will allow you to adjust to the Thai weather and settle into your new surroundings. This time length also allows our staff to prepare your paperwork to process your visa and work permit, which you will need to work legally in Thailand. ÿ
